CP-140 Aurora

CP-140 Aurora | Bagotville international air show

The national defense acquired its first CP-140 Auroras in 1980. The RCAF took possession of 21 aircraft since then to carry out maritime patrols, anti-submarine warfare missions and even search and rescue operations. In 2014, a modernization of the Aurora took place, mainly affecting the structure and equipment. It thus becomes a command, control, communication, intelligence and surveillance platform. During the same year, some of them participated in Operation IMPACT against the forces of Daesh (or Islamic State) by carrying out 597 reconnaissance missions.
