CC-177 Globemaster III

The five Canadian CC-117 Globemasters can carry up to 160,000 pounds of heavy military equipment, as well as armed troops. Prior to the acquisition of the Globemasters, Canada was dependent on other countries for strategic airlift. Now the RCAF can use the CC-177 for military, humanitarian or peace missions. For example, several refueling flights were carried out between Afghanistan and Canada from 2007 to 2014. It should not be overlooked that one of its main qualities is to make flights over long distances and, in spite of its imposing stature, it can land on isolated unpaved runways.
